HISTORY

The Good Street Baptist Church Federal Credit Union was organized on November 22, 1957 and the first office location was 902 North Good Latimer Expressway in Dallas, Texas. Mr. C. R. Robinson was responsible for the idea to organize a credit union. Mr. Robinson felt keenly about the services and benefits of a credit union for the congregation. His compassion for those who were not employed in such a manner as to enjoy the benefits of a fair and equitable credit service became a concern for action. He presented the idea to Pastor C.A.W. Clark and an application for a Federal Credit Union charter was prepared and submitted. Eight people served as subscribers (charted members) for the organization certificate.
Charter Members: Mrs. Jessie B. Miller, Mrs. I. B. Smith, Preston J. Martin, Calvin Williams, Charles H. Love, Alva Jackson, Henry Evans, Jr. and C.R. Robinson.

Pursuant to the provisions of the federal credit union act, the organizational charter was issued on December 3, 1957. On January 27, 1958 at 7:30 PM and the first meeting of the Good Street Credit Union was called to order. Mr. J. T. Vest served as temporary chairman and temporary clerk.
